We are beyond excited to present our debut exhibition, “Loose Thread”! Although it is our first semester as an official society, we’ve received over 30 incredible submissions and we have loved exhibiting and showcasing all your work.
Each piece in our exhibition has a completely unique take on our theme and it’s been such an honour to learn so much about all your work. Despite COVID restrictions and the unpredictable spring weather in Edinburgh, we have managed to exhibit both physically and virtually this year. Organising an exhibition during a pandemic has been difficult, but with our amazing committee and all of the members’ suggestions, it has made it such an amazing and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
“Loose Thread” is an exhibition which seeks to represent the struggles we have all felt over lockdown, where although we’re apart, we have managed to keep our connections to each other close. (Creds to @fiona_goss_art for the heartfelt theme idea!)
We hope you enjoy our exhibition! Keep an eye out for our finished video (massive shoutout to @jamesgrossmanstudio) and please continue to support all of the artists involved!
We would also like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to donate what would be our exhibition fee, to the Global Coronavirus Appeal with the British Red Cross. At the moment, they are directing all donations to support the people in India who are currently enduring the devastating effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The link is in our bio on our Instagram and below, so please donate if you can. Thank you!
All the best,
Holly and Hanna, President and Vice-President of the Edinburgh Gallery Society x
